Translator Post

Hello everyone! I am Maria Dolores, the translator this week in my group.
For this task, we had to choose four questions of the six topics which Linda sent us. These topics are about the changes in the last law of education, LOE and the current, LOMCE. The week before, each group did a conceptual map and then, we uploaded a complete conceptual map with the ideas of each group. Through these conceptual maps we choose four questions of each topic. According to this, the 5 most important terms that I have learnt on the week are this:
Law, it is a regulation applicable to the people by some authority. If someone breaks the law, he or she would punishment by judicial decision. Through the correct laws a country would become organized in a good way.
Education, it is a form of learning, here the skills, knowledge and habits are transmitted through teaching. Education usually is transferred by someone, but in other occasion we can learn by ourselves. Education is divided in different stages: preschool, primary school, secondary school and finally the college, university or apprenticeship.
Questionnaire is an instrument which is used to make a series of questions; the purpose is to know the kind information which we want to get. Many times is used to know the knowledge of people, for example, the exams of students.
Question is a linguistic expression used to make a request for information, or the request made using such an expression. The information requested may be provided in the form of an answer.
Answer is a reply to a question or is a solution or a response that is relevant to the said question. An answer is an assertion in opposition to someone or something.

To conclude, I have to say that in this task we have learnt more about each topic, because in the last week we only did two conceptual maps of two topics. However, this week we have to read the six topics to extract the perfect question with the correct answer, so now, we know more about the changes between LOE and LOMCE.

Translator Post.

Hello everyone!! I am Raquel and I have been the translator of my group this week, as all of you know, the translator have to choose five key words about the work that we have done, It has to include the definition of each concept with my own words and based on academic resources. This week we have done two cmaps about the actual law of education LOMCE, of course to do this cmaps we have reviewed the last law LOE.

  1. Cmap (Conceptual map): It is a grafic representation of knowledge which consist on a network of concepts which are connecting each other, the relationshipos between these concepts are the arrows. It is a form of structure the knwoledge to study and to have it more clear.

  1. LOE: It was an educational law, the previous law before the LOMCE, which organized all the educational system's functions, including the teachings, the teachers framework, the schools, their inspection, the economy, etc. Providing an important role in to the attention to student diversity. It was approved officially in 2006 when it was of obligated fulfillment.

  1. LOMCE: It is an education law which have modified the last education law, LOE, but it do not change it at all. It is known popularly as Wert Law but it is abbreviate as LOMCE. As I have said before it is only a modification of the last law called LOE, so it also organized all the educational system's functions, including the same things as the other but with the modifications.

  1. Organization: It is an instrument which organize those with you work. In conclusion, organization is a form of organize a system to get the whised results. There are a lot of kind of organization, but in this case we talk about school organization, and it is based on how school is organized, the relationship between teachers, students and so on. In the same way a school organization can exist only when there people who are capable to work together in an organize form to get a common objective.

  1. Administration: It is an action to administrar o gestionar people, companies, resources and so on to get targeted. This concept refer to the structure, the operation and the performance of those organization which are being administered.

Finally, I would like to say that with this task we have learned several things, we have learned how to organize the information that we have, we have learned to do a cmap and also that we have several tools to do it online. And finally, although we are not expert in this laws, after this taks we know a few more about them. We have enjoyed a lot doing this cmaps, I hope you enjoy it!!
see you soon!

Translator Post

Hi, readers! I’m Blanca and I have the role of Translator this week. It’s nice to write once again in our blog about the last task “What we have learnt during the course in School Organization”. This role consists on explaining the five most important words of the week. It has to include the definition of each concept with my own words and based on academic resources. The words I have chosen are:

Competence: A competence is a learning that we can apply to resolve problems that happen in live. It is necessary the knowledge related to each subject to develop the education. The main competencies which can be highlighted are: personal, social and ethical competencies.
The personal competence is all this information that is important to us as future teachers; we also should be teachers in a TPACK framework.
In social competence we have learnt working in groups respecting other ideas, dialoguing, dealing problems…
The ethical competence consists of respecting other cultures, religions or don’t influenced children with our own thoughts.

Context: is a set of circumstances or facts which surround a particular event, situation, statement or idea. Related to education, the two most important backgrounds are social and the economic context. There are some problems in the public school, such us the money, the economic context, the cultural context (which consists on respecting other cultures, religions, etc) and the age (which is composed by the mental and the chronological age).

Knowledge: is a human faculty which results from interpreted information and from understanding information, concepts, experiences or individual interpretation through experience, association or education. In an organizational context, knowledge is an important element in the intelligence and the competences of people.

Moovly: is a web tool which is used to create videos, presentations being attractive to children and adults. With this tool, we forget about slides adding for example: voice, sound, music, etc. It has a timeline interface with which you can synchronize everything you put on the video. Then, when you have finished, you can publish it on YouTube, Facebook, put it on a website or download it. The presentations 3.0 can be done with animations of the same web, Moovly. With it, it is easy to convert the traditional presentations into creative videos.

Objective: is the proposition of a goal or purpose to be achieved, and that, according to the area where it is used, has some level of complexity. It is one of the key players in the planning process. A goal can be achieved individually or otherwise, as a group, for the formation of a team. In both cases, efforts and will be moved by prior arrangement to achieve the objectives.

Finally, I would like to say I have learnt a lot during the semester of this subject and that with this final task, I realized how much we have acquired. At first, it may seem that you have learned a lot, but it is with this type of activities when you understand the development of creativity, the passion of teachers, the importance of education and above all, the way you want your students to learn in the future.

Greetings!

Translator Post

Hello everyone! This week I have got the Translator Role. So, I have to summarize the five most important words of the week. We have to do a task called “The Dark Side of Text Books”, and we decided to do a comic to present this interesting topic. According to this, and after seeing a lot of webs about textbooks and their problematic, for me, the most important words are the next:
  •  Editorials: They do business with education through textbooks; families spend a lot of money buying them each course and for us this is immoral according to the economical situation in our country. Most editorials are just worried about earning money and they do not think in children and in their education.
  • Teachers: The problem of textbooks is not caused only by editorials. During many years, teachers used textbooks as the only resource in school; most of them cannot survive to their lessons without them and is a big problem for the society. They have to be able to use other resources, especially ICTs; they offer many advantages as less weight, more information and reduced cost.
  •   Ideology: The textbooks are in many times influenced by the political situation of the moment or the type of editorial which create it. It is very worrying because children grow influenced by the way of thinking of others and not by themselves. It is an error because they do not have open-mind in most cases and in the future we do not have citizens with their own ideas, they just follow most powerful people.
  •  Children: They are the most harmed with this situation. With textbooks they really spent a boring time in schools, they do not learn to think by themselves, the reality is just what the textbooks say. Their teachers do not offer them an enjoyable time outside the schools learning by experience for example, or the pleasure of discovering any interesting knowledge by themselves, for this reason, they are not comfortable at schools, and most of them do not like it. They should enjoy learning but the reality of schools is quite different.
  • Textbooks: Nobody knows why textbooks is nowadays the most important resource in education, maybe because of the laziness of teachers who do not want to think a bit in their methods of teaching. But, and because other reasons, children are limited in their way of learning and discovering a lot of interesting concepts, textbooks think for them so, why they would do an effort?

I must say that I have learned a lot of with this task, I really like what I have discovered about the situation of textbooks and this has helped me to change my perception of schools reality. I think it is very useful for me when I become teacher in order to improve my methodology with children, not limitation myself to the typical lessons we are used to, I’m looking forward to put all this knowledge in practice! We have many things to learn and this is just our beginning as future educators.

I hope you have enjoyed our work, best regards.

Translator Post.

Hello! I'm Rosana and this week my role is Translator. I have choosen the following five words as the most important words about this activity:

1. - Creative Commons: It is a non-profit organization headquartered in California, United States, devoted to expanding the range of creative works available for others to build upon legally and to and to share. The organization has released several copyright known as Creative Commons licenses free of charge to the public. These licenses allow creators to communicate which rights they reserve, and which rights they waive for the benefit of recipients or other creators.

2. - Slide show: It is a presentation of a series of still images on a projection screen or electronic display device. Each image is usually displayed for at least a few seconds, and sometimes for several minutes, before it is replaced by the next image. A slide show may be a presentation of images purely for their own visual interest or artistic value, sometimes unaccompanied by description or text, or it may be used to clarify or reinforce information, ideas, comments, solutions or suggestions which are presented verbally.

3. -Flickr: It is an image hosting and video hosting website, and web services suite. In addition to being a popular website for users to share and embed personal photographs, and effectively an online community, the service is widely used by photo researchers and by bloggers to host images that they embed in blogs and social media. Flickr offers users the ability to either release their images under certain common usage licenses or label them as "all rights reserved". The licensing options primarily include the Creative Commons 2.0 attribution-based and minor content-control licenses – although jurisdiction and version-specific licenses cannot be selected. As with "tags", the site allows easy searching of only those images that fall under a specific license.

4. -Slideshare: SlideShare is a Web 2.0 based slide hosting service. Users can upload files privately or publicly in the following file formats: PowerPoint, PDF, Keynote or OpenDocument presentations. Slide decks can then be viewed on the site itself, on hand held devices or embedded on other sites. Although the website is primarily a slide hosting service, it also supports documents, PDFs, videos and webinars. SlideShare also provides users the ability to rate, comment on, and share the uploaded content. SlideShare was voted among the World's Top 10 tools for education & e-learning in 2010.

5. -Storyboard: Storyboards are graphic organizers in the form of illustrations or images displayed in sequence for the purpose of pre-visualizing a motion picture, animation, motion graphic or interactive media sequence. The storyboarding process, in the form it is known today, was developed at the Walt Disney Studio during the early 1930s. The process of visual thinking and planning allows a group of people to brainstorm together, placing their ideas on storyboards and then arranging the storyboards on the wall. This fosters more ideas and generates consensus inside the group.

Translator

Hello! I´m María, the translator of this week, and I think that to understand very well this topic, we would have to know some terms:
- I think we need to know what exactly a MAP, because this word appears a lot of times in this work. A map is a graphic representation of a portion of the earth's surface. The map has metric properties, this means that they can take measurements of distances, angles, etc..
In order to know the world and supported by the philosophical theories, maps today are part of a key source of information for understanding the world.

http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mapa

- The second one is CARTOGRAPHIC PROJECTIONS.
A cartographic projection is a graphic representation system which provides an appropriate relationship between the points on the curved surface of the Earth and a flat surface (map). These points are located on a network of meridians and parallels.
Map projections are necessary for creating maps, but, however, all map projections distort the surface in some way. Depending on the purpose of the map, some distortions are acceptable and others are not, there are therefore different map projections.
We have studied the Robinson projection, the Mercator projection and the Azimuthal projection, and we have seen how there are a lot of opinions about what is the best to represent the reality. For this reason, we know that there isn´t a perfect cartographic projection without failure.

-The third is DISTORTION. This word appears a lot of times in this activity, so I think that it is important to know its meaning. Distortion is the deformation of the original state of something, in this case of the maps.
Accurate criteria for evaluation of cartographic projections are based on numerical values of local distortion in the variety of individual points in a map.
Distortion refers to lengths, areas and angles, and its value is changing point by point continuously.

-One of the most important terms in this work is TREASURE HUNTS. Treasure hunt is an activity engaged in students learning of English. This isn´t a really complex task, they have to find the answers to some questions which are given in the content of a set of links selected previously by the teacher.
A treasure hunt includes some elements: the first one is a short introduction to explain the topic. Second, it includes a set of questions that students have to respond. The third one, there is a reflexion about all information obtained. Then, treasure hunts gather some links of the websites where answers will be. And finally, it has an evaluation of the completed task.
Treasure hunt is a flexible work model because it is not necessary that all these elements appear on it.

- In this activity we also have worked with MEDIA. The communication channels through which news, entertainment, education, information or promotional messages are disseminated. Media includes all broadcasting and narrowcasting medium such as newspapers, magazines, television, radio, billboards, direct mail, telephone, fax, and Internet. Media is the plural of medium and can take a singular or plural verb depending on the intended meaning.

Translator Post

Hi, I'm Esmeralda! I'm the traslator this week and, as many of you know, the traslator's task is to  find the five most important terms that we have learnt during the task of this week and I have to define each term with my own words. Well, we have been working on the topic "TPACK in education" so the five terms that I have chosen as the most important are TPACK, content, technology, pedadogy and integration.
In order to define each of these terms I have based my research on an specific article that the teacher gave us. Then, I will put the reference of the other article in the end of my post because maybe, it is interesting for some of you.

Maybe, the most important term of the task is TPACK.
- TPACK stands for Technological, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge and it is also the interaction between these three bodies of knowledge. TPACK is described as a frame where the goal is the integration of the use of technology (both analog and digital) in training future teachers. The use of TPACK has as a result an effective teaching on the part of the teachers.
- When we talk about Content Knowledge (CK) we referred to the subject matter that teachers must know so that they can teach others in an adequate way. Each subject has a different specific content.
- Technology Knowledge (TK) refers to the knowledge of differents technologies and the aplication of this technologies to the educational context. We can distinguish between (1)traditional pedagogical technologies (a pencil); and (2) digital technologies, such as computers.
-Pedagogical Knowledge (PK) consist of the knowledge on the part of the teachers of the appropriate processes and methods for an effective teaching and learning.
-I will define the term integration in relation to the TPACK framework. We talk about the integration of the three bodies of knowledge which form the TPACK. It means, integration consists of putting together the content, pegadody and technology on an specific educational context in order to create an effective teaching.

This is the reference of the article that the teacher gave us and I have used it as the base for definining the main terms:

Roselmina Indrisano, Lee S. Shulman, Matthew J. Koehler, Punya Mishra, and William Cain, Storey Mecoli, Mary Elizabeth Matthews, Michelle Carney and Roselmina Indrisano, Laura M. Jiménez and Kristin K. A. McIlhagga and Laura Callis. (2013) “JOURNAL OF EDUCATION volume 193, number 3, 2013 Pedagogical Content Knowledge”

I have also used other sources, here you have the references: -Royce Kimmons. (2011-03-22). "TPACK in 3 Minutes". Retrieved from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wGpSaTzW58

-Schmidt, D. A., Baran, E., Thompson, A. D., Mishra, P., Koehler, M. J., & Shin, T. S. (2009). Technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK): The development and validation of an assessment instrument for preservice teachers. Journal of Research on Computing in Education, 42(2), 123.

I hope you enjoy it!
